Guitar Restrings Process

All guitar restrings includes a full instrument clean-up. The strings are removed to allow careful cleaning of the fretboard, where built-up dirt and residue can affect both feel and tone. The fretboard is then cleaned and polished, with rehydration applied where appropriate, helping to protect the wood and maintain long-term condition. The body is also lightly cleaned and polished as part of the restring process.

As part of our guitar restrings service, we fit strings of your choice and are happy to advise on gauges and materials to suit your playing style. We stock and fit trusted brands including Rotosound, Martin, and Elixir. Once fitted, strings are pre-tensioned and the instrument is fully tuned, helping the guitar settle more quickly and stay in tune for longer.

Restrings Vs Setups

While guitar restrings focus on refreshing the instrument, it’s important to understand how they differ from a guitar setup. A restring improves tone and feel but does not adjust playability. Guitar setups are far more comprehensive, involving adjustments to action, neck relief, intonation, hardware, and overall balance. If your guitar feels uncomfortable, plays out of tune higher up the neck, or buzzes excessively, we may recommend a setup instead of, or in addition to, a restring.
