String Instrument Repairs With Booths

A key element of many string instrument repairs is soundpost positioning and adjustment. The soundpost plays a vital role in tone, projection and balance, and incorrect placement can result in poor response or uneven sound across the strings. Our experienced workshop ensures the soundpost is positioned accurately to suit both the instrument and the player.

We also undertake all forms of restoration and maintenance, from minor repairs to more involved structural work. This includes crack repairs, seam regluing, fingerboard adjustments, bridge work and general maintenance to ensure the instrument remains stable and reliable. Regular repairs and maintenance can help prevent small issues from developing into more serious problems over time.

Bow Rehairs

In addition to instrument repairs, we offer a bow rehairing service. We now advise rehairing primarily for higher-quality bows, using only the finest horsehair and professional rehairing techniques. A properly rehaired bow greatly improves grip, control and tone production, making it an important part of overall string instrument care.

He even took it back into his workshop at no extra cost, a week or so later, when one of the valves was sticking again - and I have had no problems with it since!
