At Booths Music, our string instrument repairs cover a wide range of instruments, including violins, violas, cellos and other orchestral stringed instruments. We work with great care and precision, understanding that even small adjustments can have a significant impact on playability and sound quality.

Cello Repairs With Booths

Our cello repairs are carried out with particular attention to structural stability, tonal balance and playability. The cello’s size and string tension place greater demands on components such as the soundpost, bridge and seams, making professional repair and maintenance essential. As part of our string instrument repairs, we undertake soundpost work, crack repairs, seam regluing, fingerboard adjustments and general restoration.

Bow Rehairs

As part of our cello repairs service, we also offer professional bow rehairing for this instrument as well as the violin and viola. A worn or uneven bow hair can significantly affect tone production, control and responsiveness, making playing more difficult than it needs to be.

We now advise bow rehairing primarily for higher-quality bows, using only the finest horsehair and proven professional techniques. Each rehair is carried out with care and precision, ensuring even tension, correct alignment and reliable performance across the full length of the bow.

A freshly rehaired bow improves grip on the string, enhances articulation and allows the player to draw a clearer, more controlled sound from their instrument. Combined with regular string instrument repairs and maintenance, professional bow rehairing helps ensure your entire setup – instrument and bow – performs at its best.

He even took it back into his workshop at no extra cost, a week or so later, when one of the valves was sticking again - and I have had no problems with it since!
