Violin

Learning the violin through dedicated string lessons develops a wide range of musical and personal skills. Violin playing improves coordination, posture, listening skills, and fine motor control, while also strengthening concentration and discipline. As students progress, they develop a strong sense of pitch, rhythm, and musical expression, making the violin an excellent foundation for broader musical understanding.

Viola

We also offer viola lessons at Booths. Viola players develop strong listening skills, refined intonation, and a deep understanding of harmony and inner musical lines. The viola’s alto clef also strengthens overall music-reading ability, supporting well-rounded musicianship and versatility across other string instruments.

Double Bass

Picking up the double bass through dedicated string lessons develops strong musical awareness, coordination, and a deep understanding of rhythm and harmony. Due to its size and range, students also build physical confidence, posture awareness, and refined listening skills. Double bass players are consistently in demand for orchestras, jazz bands, and ensembles, making it a highly rewarding instrument both musically and socially.

Cello

While we currently do not offer cello string lessons, this is something we would love to expand in the future. A studious yet relaxed one-to-one learning environment is provided to students of all ages, ability and musical preference. Whether you want to study academically through the grades, brush up on your existing instrumental technique, or just have fun learning to play your favourite tunes and pieces at your own pace, our expert team of music tutors aim to fully cater for your individual needs.

Exams through String Lessons

Lessons can follow classical pathways, graded exams, or be adapted to suit orchestral, ensemble, or personal musical goals. Choosing string lessons is a fantastic way to develop musical skills such as coordination, listening, discipline, and expressive performance. At Booths Music, our experienced tutors focus on strong technical foundations, healthy posture and bowing, accurate intonation, and confident musicianship.

A whole range of pupils benefit from the skills of our music tutors in our teaching studios – many have progressed to success through graded exams with the ABRSM, Trinity College and London College schools of music, while others are happy to enjoy the music they love to play in a relaxed environment.
